Ron's Doodles Exhibition & Fundraiser
Ron Lester was a coach, teacher, and co-founder of Joy House RVA with
his wife Barbara. What you may not know is that after his passing in 2022, Barbara
discovered a remarkable collection of doodles that Ron had created during Sunday services at their church—quiet expressions of creativity that had gone largely unseen.
In 2024, the family began the meaningful process of preserving this work. Over 100
doodles were carefully scanned and curated into 70 selected drawings, then organized into 7 themed series of ten doodles each. Their daughter, Holly, thoughtfully titled each drawing and series. The 7 series are:
- Avian Flight
- Avian Perch
- Dark Matter
- Graphic Movement
- Life in Paradise
- Line Dancing
- Photosynthesis
Today, the artwork of Ron Lester lives on as archival-quality art prints,
posters, and notecards that are for sale with all proceeds benefiting Joy House RVA.
For the first time, all seven series—every one of the 70 drawings—will be on exhibit at Boyd Realty, located at 6784 Forest Hill Avenue in the Stratford Hills Shopping Center in Richmond, VA. The exhibit will run from March 27 through June 12, 2026, with an Opening Reception on March 27 from 6:00–9:00 pm.
If you’re unable to attend the opening, the exhibition will be open to the public on
